Arrival Time: Arrive 10-15 minutes before service to take your children to their appropriate area and to allow yourself time to get to the Worship area.
Learning: To supplement what you are teaching your child at home, we start teaching children Bible lessons at 4 years old. From time to time preschool children will have take home activities for you to review with them. Elementary children may be given "take home papers" which provide parents a way to interact with their child and reinforce the lesson learned on Sunday morning.
Safety Procedures: A thorough screening procedure for all teachers is carried out before teachers serve in our children's ministry. Age appropriate toys are used and sanitized. We request that children leave personal toys at home. Please be sure to label all your child's belongings.
Check-In & Security: Providing a secure and fun environment for your child is very important to us. First time guests are asked to fill out an "information form" about your child. Your family will be assigned a security card with a specific number to ensure that your child can only be picked up by the person(s) that dropped them off. You will be given a pager by our Nursery workers. If your child needs attention during the service, we will page you.
What To Bring: When bringing a diaper bag for your child, please bring the following items:
- Two or three disposable diapers. No clothe diapers please.
- Pacifier or other item, should your child need it for security.
- A complete change of clothes should your child require it.
- A bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water (this is a good practice even for nursing mothers).
Health: With the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child should not be taken from home if the following exist:
- Fever (currently or within the last 24 hrs.)
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Any symptoms of childhood diseases (chicken pox, measles, whooping cough, mumps, scarlet fever)
- Common cold, from onset through one week
- Sore throat
- Any skin infection such as ringworm, impetigo, pink eye or boils
- Should your child develop an infectious disease following a session in our children's area, please email us at awchurch@onlinesxpress.net
